Custom Built PC's

Having a computer built for you is an easy way to make sure you're getting exactly what you want! We build computers with high quality parts and tons of space for future expansion, which helps ensure that you're not just buying a PC, you're investing in one.

How Dell, HP, and Other Brand Names Build Their Systems

Brand name PC companies sign contracts with hardware producers to design and mass produce items specifically for their PC's. The advantage is that the costs are kept down to the customer and therefore they can sell their PC's at competitive prices.

The disadvantage is that if a piece of hardware in their PC's breaks, the only way to get that piece of hardware replaced is through whatever company name is on the side. If the PC is outside of the warranty date, the chances of finding a replacement for that piece of hardware are not good because the only company that carried them has put them in their computers. The customer would be cornered into either trying to find replacement hardware at a place like eBay or buying a brand new PC.

As previously stated, these piece of hardware are mass produced. Sometimes they may sit in one place for an obscenely long period of time before they're used. The reliability of them is not good, and the customer has no idea whether or not they're buying a PC with hardware from solid, proven hardware manufacturers.

How Other PC Shops Build

Other PC shops do provide somewhat different options than Dell or HP. They will build PC's to the customer specs, but largely the personal aspect of how they build still just isn't there. These computers are called personal computers for a reason. It's yours, it should reflect what you want to do with it.

With many PC shops, you run into the same problem with Dell or HP. What hardware goes into your build depends on what the shop has in stock. Therefore, you might get whatever hardware costs them the least and can yield the largest profits for their business rather than a better PC for you.

How The V Builds

All of our custom PC's are built specifically to customer specs. No, the customer doesn't fill out a web survey asking what they want, we are a personal company and we want to build you a real personal computer. With every build, we sit down with the customer and interview them, figure out exactly what they're looking for, ask a short list of questions that help us narrow down what they want, and then research the build. Because the computer is custom, you can choose whatever operating system you want, versus Dell or HP where you're more often than not stuck with whatever they give you.

When researching, we only look at the best hardware companies with longstanding traditions of excellence. If we wouldn't put it in our own computer, we won't put it in yours. Many of the parts we look at are ones that we have in our own PC's.

Once we know what will be included in your PC, we notify you and start the built. The time this takes depends on where the parts are coming from. When researching, we look for the cheapest price on the quality parts we find so the customer isn't overpaying. Getting the parts and building can sometimes take up to 2 weeks, but under most conditions it takes about a week.

Because we don't carry the parts in stock, the costs are passed on to the customer without being raised. The customer pays exactly for the parts what they would if they had them him or herself.

Finally, we set up the PC so you're ready to hit the ground running when you get it. We install whatever operating system you bought, get it fully updated, install and update all drivers, and clean out any unneeded junk that came with the original software. We install a media productivity pack with simple, lite programs like WinAmp, VLC Media Player, and any iTunes programs if the customer wants them. We install an anti-virus and anti-spyware package with AVG Free Edition and SpyBot S&D. We can upgrade the Anti-Virus program upon customer request. Lastly, we install an office productivity package, including Open Office, a free, open source equivalent to the Microsoft Office package with far fewer problems and a more user friendly interface.
